The 2022 UGA Football Schedule kicked off with a game against the Oregon Ducks on Saturday, Sept. 3 in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff in Atlanta, Ga. The 2023 UGA Football Schedule kicks off with a game on Sept. 2 at home against the UT Martin Skyhawks.
ESPN analyst Chris Low notes Georgia plays Oregon in Atlanta in Mercedes-Benz Stadium, which is not a true home game, even though it is in close proximity to Athens. Georgia has replaced the game with a home game on Sept. 9, 2023 against Ball State, The Bulldogs have never played the Mid-American Conference school. Of the 6 prior Peach Bowl games Georgia has played in, all games have been 1 score finishes that were decided by an average of 3 points. This format for the "Chick-fil-a Bowl" remained the same until 2013 when the game was selected to become a part of the inaugural season for the College Football Playoff.

Of course, the Commodores backed out of their last scheduled game at Sanford Stadium — twice — in 2020, citing COVID concerns.

"We recognize the original excitement in hosting Georgia next season and traveling to Knoxville in 2024, and the short-term disappointment this news may bring, but the circumstances obviously dictated a change in our schedules," Oklahoma athletic director Joe Castiglione said on the school's athletics website. In 1996, the Peach Bowl was sponsored by the famous Georgia fast-food chain Chick-fil-a.
In addition to Georgia, Auburn travels to play Alabama, Ole Miss and Mississippi State. It will be interesting to see just how hot the seat is for Tigers’ coach Bryan Harsin by that point. The Golden Flashes — Nick Saban’s alma mater — have the toughest non-conference schedule per ESPN. The Golden Flashes don’t exactly figure to light it up in Athens, particularly when one considers this will likely be a beaten-down team, as they open at Washington on Sept. 3 and play at Oklahoma on Sept. 10. The other true home game in September is another blowout with the potential for more heat, at noon kick-off against Mid-American Conference School Kent State.

Now, the game alternates every year between a New Year's Six bowl and a Playoff game. If Smart has his way, this could be the last time UGA plays a designated home game with Florida away from Athens. The Tigers were selected by ESPN as having the toughest road schedule.
Eventually, in 2006, the name of the bowl was changed to just the "Chick-fil-a Bowl". In 2008, Chick-fil-a also became involved in regular season games as well, hosting their annual "Chick-fil-a Kickoff Classic". While the venue for both contests the contest shifted to a matchup that took place exclusively between an ACC and SEC team. ATHENS — Georgia football has the easiest home schedule in college football, per ESPN, but that should come with an asterisk.

All the Arkansas games are in Fayetteville this season, on campus, in part to make the most of potential SEC recruiting weekends. One week later, Georgia plays its third and final SEC home game of the season against Tennessee.
